You probably already know if your Macintosh supports sound input. But, it may be helpful to check microphone readiness, independently of Perfect Pitch‚Ñ¢...
◊
1) Pull down the Apple Menu and locate Control Panels.
2) From Control Panels select Sound or Monitors and Sound.†
3) Locate the Alert Sounds group (pictured above) and click Add...
4) Record something with the record panel (pictured below)
then play it back. Cancel when finished.
◊
If you can succesfully record through the Sound Control Panel, you can run any Perfect Pitch‚Ñ¢ program. If not, consult the setup Manual that came with your Macintosh, restart your computer, and try the Troubleshooting procedure.
†Note: The location and appearance of the Sound Control Panel may differ from the one depicted above. Look under the Apple Menu for Control Panels, then open the Sound or Monitors and Sound Control Panel. (In System 7.5 and above, the Sound & Monitors Control Panels are combined.) You may also test recording ability with the SimpleSound utlity that comes with some Macs. SimpleSound is usually located in the Apple Menu.
